The MATA is proud to provide scholarship opportunities for deserving students. These scholarships will be awarded to entry level and certified graduate students who intend to pursue a professional career in athletic training.
For the first time in 2026, students will have the oppourtunity to apply for the $2,500 MATA ElevATe Post Professional Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes individuals whose experiences and/or events have impacted their desire to serve others in their professional careers.
Qualified candidates should demonstrate leadership, a desire to be active in the athletic training profession, involved in their community and have achieved academic success.
The MATA is an allied health professional organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of health care for physically active patients through the promotion of professional growth, educational enhancement, as well as, the recognition of the athletic trainer and their value as health care providers. The recipients of these scholarships should demonstrate similar qualities and interests which will allow them to be successful in the pursuit of a career in athletic training.
Professional Level Scholarship Criteria
- Must be enrolled in a CAATE approved professional degree athletic training program preparing to graduate with their athletic training degree and sit for the BOC exam in the 2025-2026 or 2026-2027 academic year
- Intent to pursue a career in athletic training
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be an MATA member in good standing
Scholarship applications must be completed and postmarked no later than March 27, 2026.
Descriptions and additional requirements for each scholarship can be found on the application forms. Those applying to more than one scholarship need only to send one copy of transcripts.
