Join us for MATA Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, February 19th. This is a great opportunity to connect with colleagues from around the state to meet with your legislators and advocate for the athletic training profession in Minnesota.  ATs from all practice settings and athletic training students are strongly encouraged to attend. Every voice matters!

Please sign up by completing the registration form by the January 31st priority deadline. The earlier you register, the better opportunity we have to accommodate those with limited availability throughout the day and ensure you have an appointment with the individual(s) who represent you. The registration form allows you to select your preferred time of day.

Advocating on behalf of the profession is an important component of supporting our professional practice. The GAC works hard to coordinate this day in a way that allows even a first time participant at the Capitol to successfully engage with their legislator. All of the tools and support you need will be provided the day of the event. GAC and other MATA Leadership are there to accompany members to their meetings.

Athletic Trainers in Minnesota have made significant strides at the Capitol over the past few years. Most notable is the athletic trainer licensure bill signed into law by Governor Mark Dayton on May 17, 2018. This was a great achievement to align Minnesota Athletic Trainers with the rest of the nation on Athletic Trainer regulation.  Our work at the Capitol is not done, however. The GAC continues to lay the groundwork necessary to pursue practice act modernization in the 2019 legislative session.

We're looking for enthusiastic ATs, students, & athletic training allies who want to advocate for AT practice and our role in the health care system! We hope to see you in St. Paul on February 19th!

If you have questions or are interested in being a volunteer for advocacy efforts, contact gac@mnata.com.
