MATA Honors & Awards

2008 MATA Honors and Awards Nomination Information

 

MATA members,

It is that time of year again when we can honor our colleges and peers for accomplishments that they have had during the last year. Nominations are being accepted for the following: MATA Hall of Fame, Larry "Stosh" Neumann Distinguished Service Award, Sports Medicine Enhancement Award, and ATC Recognition Award.

Listed below are the criteria for each award.

HALL OF FAME - This award is given to an ATC nominated who has made significant contribution to the athletic training profession in the state of Minnesota. More than one ATC may be inducted in one calendar year. Nomination eligibility includes significant evidence of the following:

  1. Appropriate length of time in the profession (minimum of 15 years, at least 10 in Minnesota)

  2. Membership in the MATA, if appropriate. (Nominee may have worked prior to the formation of the MATA)

  3. Involvement in MATA designated committee(s)

  4. Involvement in community organizations

  5. Presentations at local, state, district or national meetings

  6. Publications of athletic training information

  7. Involvement at district and national levels

 LARRY "STOSH" NEUMANN DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD - This award is given to those individuals who have made special contributions in the field of Sports Medicine over a long period of time. They have been advocates in the advancement of Athletic Training and Athletic Trainers in the state of Minnesota. One award winner per calendar year. Nomination eligibility includes MATA involvement in the following areas:

  1. Interscholastic, intercollegiate and/or professional athletics

  2. Educational presentations

  3. Financial support

  4. Minimum of 10 years of service

 MATA SPORTS MEDICINE ENHANCEMENT AWARD - This award is given to those organizations that have made consistent contributions to the advancement of the Athletic Training profession in the state of Minnesota. One award winner per calendar year. Organizations nominated will have provided support to the MATA in the following areas:

  1. Sponsorships

  2. Scholarships

  3. Educational opportunities

  4. Sports medicine product development

MATA ATC RECOGNITION AWARD - This award is given to athletic trainer(s), who, in the previous year, has achieved one or more outstanding accomplishments in the following areas:

  • responded successfully in a critical situation

  • developed new techniques in Athletic Training

  • promoted Athletic Training through public speaking and/or related events

  • participated in promotion of educational opportunities for Athletic Trainer's (i.e. study groups, workshops)

  • participated in research advancements
