Emergencies in Athletic II Wrap-Up

Emergencies in Athletics II, developed by MATA, Regions EMS and South Central College was held on August 4, 2007. Approximately 100 athletic trainers' and EMS personnel from around the state attended the meeting. Presentations on Head Injuries, Facial Injuries, Sudden Cardiac Events and Abdominal Injuries were presented by various members of the Regions EMS and Medical Staff. There was also a demonstration of airway management techniques and anatomy review.

 

Following the clinical event the participants received tickets to the Twins vs. the Cleveland Indians baseball game. The Twins went on to win the game and one of the attendees was able to snag a ground rule double ball hit by the Twins. The MATA, Regions EMS and South Central College with the help of individuals who were unable to attend the game and additional tickets purchased were able to donate 25 tickets to Lutheran Social Services to be used by group homes and underprivileged children to attend the game.
