2008 MATA Golf Outing

This years tournament will use all 27 holes at Bunker Hills to speed up the time of play. The tournament is a shotgun start at 1pm with the dinner, silent auction, and awards to follow at 6pm. For more information contact:

"Athletic Training in the 21st Century"

The 2008 meeting will be held May 16-17th, 2008 at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN. Some highlights of this year's meeting;

  • Expanded Friday night offerings including aLeadership Workshop with NATA President, Chuck Kimmel, GLATA District Director, Mark Gibson, and MATA President Mike Doyle and the MATA social
  • Lecture from NATA President, Chuck Kimmel, "Athletic Training in the 21st Century"
  • 2 breakout sessions with 3 topics; Light Therapy, Case Study & Appropriate Cervical Spine Management, and MRSA - Prevention, Diagnosis, and Management

Free Event for MATA Members

Pedicatric Surgery and Surgical Subspecialty Update is presented by the Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. Dr. James Engels will be presenting "Overuse Injuries of the Pediatric Athlete". Persons from the Minnesota Athletic Trainers may attend Dr. James Engels presentation from 1:30-230 pm and then stay as long as they would like after the session.  Dr. James Engels participates in a Q&A session from 2:30-2:45.  There would be no charge though it is important that they pre register by calling or emailing Lorelei Noire so they can plan on the necessary materials and snack food for the afternoon. On the registration form, please note that your are from the MATA.

NATA StarTRACKS Leadership Program

The StarTRACKS program is designed for individuals interested in the study of leadership. The curriculum developed is vigorous and is expected to take up to two years to complete. The program requires a combination of reading, online research, workshops, and community experience such as Toastmasters. For specific details on the curriculum contact Judy Pulice at jpulice@nata.org.

 

The GLATA is sponsoring two (2) Leadership Scholars in 2008-2010. Upon completion of the course of study, Leadership Scholars will be awarded a Certificate of Leadership.
